Commuting by Bike

Why Commute?

It's a great workout....Many people start cycling to work because they can't find time to exercise. The typical bicycle commuter rides about 30-40 minutes to work. When they get home in the evening, the workout is done and they can get down to all the other important things there are to do, like prepare dinner, spend time with their spouse and kids, catch up with friends, or just relax. By adding just a few minutes to the usual commute they've gotten into great shape and saved the environment.

About saving the environment...Greenhouse gases from carbon emissions produced by automobiles increased 17% between 1990 and 2007. Riding a bike to work just 3 days a week reduces personal emissions by 30 lbs every month. Commuting by bike also helps reduce traffic congestion and general air pollution. Not to mention the money it saves.

And a lot of money can be saved by riding to work.... A Stanford University study estimates that those 3 days of riding a bike to work saves $2,400 in one year in gas, maintenance, insurance, etc. That's money that could go toward a vacation or other relaxing activity.

Speaking of relaxing....cycling is relaxing, reduces stress, and is FUN.
